MKTV’s Cali Speaks With McMaster Life Sciences Student, Spring

Hello!  My name is Cali and I recently conducted an interview with McMaster Life Sciences Student, Spring Wang!  It was conducted over the recent Christmas Holiday’s in the brand new MKTV Media Studios!  I had a great time and learned a lot about Spring and her studies at McMaster University in Life Sciences.

Spring Wang currently attends McMaster and is in her first year in the field of life sciences. In the interview with Spring, we learned a lot about university life, her experience in the program, and gained some insight regarding the general scope of things in post-secondary education.

Spring starts off telling us about why she chose this university in particular. There are many different things to consider when it comes to deciding on a school, particularly things such as distance and  courses offered, as we learned from Spring.

McMaster University is very well known for their science-related fields, as well as a reasonable distance from where Spring currently resides. The overall campus is also very appealing, as well as the area and atmosphere around the university.

Next, we discussed the courses that Spring is currently taking, and the direction that she hopes to continue on. Life Sciences is a very general science, so there are many possibilities when it comes to a more refined future direction and career. It’s a great program to take for those who are interested in the sciences, but haven’t completely focused in on a specific branch of science yet, as studying Life Sciences leaves many open doors for students.

During our interview, Spring also gave us some advice referring to current secondary school students who may be starting to decide on their plants of continuing their education. For students who wish to continue in the sciences, Spring recommends to take all three science courses offered in high school, those being Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. A common misconception is that universities only look for Biology and Chemistry, while Spring suggests that having all three sciences makes you a much more eligible candidate for most science programs.

It was so amazing to have this opportunity to speak to Spring about her personal experiences, and her time with us was greatly appreciated. I’m sure everyone has gained some insight in terms of everything we learned today, and Spring has given us a lot of information for us to reflect upon.

Thank you so much to everyone for reading this blog post.  And, you can follow the link below to watch my interview with Spring Wang in the MKTV Media Studio in Toronto!
